Fair Scope Policy
FOR PRODUCT VIDEOS
How Flat Pricing Works
Our Flat Pricing Model is designed to make animation procurement predictable, transparent, and frictionless for our clients.
To maintain fixed rates without requiring extensive scoping for each project, all flat-priced projects are produced under our Fair Scope Policy.
This policy defines the expected parameters of a standard engagement and ensures alignment on deliverables, production complexity, and revision cycles.
The Fair Scope Policy covers the majority of typical product-focused 2D explainer workflows. Projects that exceed these parameters may require supplementary scoping or custom pricing.
1.
Animation Style & Visual Complexity
2D UI-Driven Animation
Most visuals are based on product interfaces, screens, or simplified UI elements. Such as:
-
App screens or web interfaces
-
Panels, cards, lists, dashboards
-
Simplified workflows and step-through sequences
What's Included
These elements are considered standard and typically do not require any additional fees:
-
Brand-guided color palettes and typography
-
Light UI mockups or simplified product abstractions
-
Simple data visualizations (graphs, bars, counters, timelines)
-
Device frames (phone, browser, tablet)
-
Script adjustments during early stages
-
Text supers, Static product imagery or illustrations
-
Geometric shapes & Iconography
Element-Level Animation
Movement and transitions are minimal-to-moderate, such as:
-
Zooms / pans
-
Slide-ins and slide-outs
-
Pops and bounce-ins
-
Crossfades / opacity transitions
-
Light UI highlight effects (“shines,” glows, pulses)
Character Use (When Applicable)
Character animation under the Fair Scope Policy is limited to looped or minimal-motion sequences, such as:
-
Idle loops
-
Simple gestures (pointing, nodding, waving)
Full-body performance animation, expressive acting, multi-character interaction, or custom rigging falls outside the Fair Scope Policy and requires custom pricing.
Not Included:
-
Complex 3D, advanced VFX, heavy simulation work
-
Detailed character acting
-
Custom illustration, micro-interaction fidelity
-
Stock or AI-generated footage (available as add-ons)
2.
Voiceover & Audio
Voiceover
Flat pricing includes:
-
AI-generated VO with natural cadence
-
Up to 3 rounds of VO adjustments (tone, pacing, pronunciation)
Human VO talent, accent-specific reads, or multiple language versions may incur additional fees.
Sound Design
Included:
-
Basic SFX (UI clicks, chimes, whooshes, pops)
-
Background music from licensed or royalty-free libraries
Not included:
-
Fully bespoke sound design
-
Foley-style audio
-
Music composition or custom scoring
3. Shot Counts
& Media Usage
A “shot” is defined as a continuous visual sequence that maintains a consistent camera view or composition. A change in camera angle, layout structure, major UI state, or scene environment qualifies as a new shot.
Approximate shot counts included under flat pricing:
-
15s → 1–3 shots
-
30s → 3–6 shots
-
60s → 4–7 shots
-
90s → 6–12 shots
Exceeding these shot counts may require extension fees if complexity or segmentation substantially increases production time.
Stock Footage, AI Footage, & Photography
Stock video or AI-generated footage is available as an optional add-on and is not included in flat pricing. Costs depend on licensing, quality tier, and quantity required.
4.
Revisions & Feedback
Flat pricing includes a reasonable number of revision rounds intended to refine execution - not to redefine the project.
Revisions are categorized as 'minor' or 'major' based on their impact on previously approved work.
Included Minor Revisions
Minor revisions are small changes that do not materially affect structure, timing, or production complexity, such as:
-
Text edits or copy refinements
-
Small timing adjustments
-
Color or typography tweaks within brand guidelines
-
Icon swaps or minor graphic replacements
-
Light motion adjustments (easing, speed, emphasis)
-
UI screen swaps that maintain the same layout and animation logic
These revisions are included within the standard revision rounds.
Major Revisions (Out of Fair Scope)
Major revisions include larger changes that alter previously approved stages and require rework of animation, layout, timing, or structure.
Examples include (but are not limited to):
-
Script changes after the first full animation cut has been delivered
-
Structural changes to the narrative or messaging after storyboard or animatic approval
-
Replacing UI flows with new product features or layouts
-
Adding or removing scenes or shots beyond agreed shot counts
-
Changing the visual style or animation approach mid-production
-
Introducing new characters or significantly expanding character usage
-
Requesting additional versions, formats, or use cases not originally defined
These fall outside the Fair Scope Policy and may require additional fees or re-scoping.
Approval Milestones
Each production phase includes an approval checkpoint (e.g., script, storyboard, first cut). Approval at each stage signifies acceptance of that phase’s direction and unlocks the next stage of production.
Changes requested after approval of a stage that impact completed or in-progress work are considered major revisions.
Revision Philosophy
Our revision process is designed to encourage alignment early and ensure efficiency throughout production. The Fair Scope Policy allows flexibility where it’s reasonable, while protecting both parties from unpredictable scope expansion.
We are ultimately here to deliver on a video that works for you. And will often do almost everything we can to accommodate your revisions within the scope of the agreed project. However, fair scope assumes the best interest of both parties in case the scope of work is substantially increased.
